A Public Event on Friday, August 18th

TOLLAND WELCOMES HOME IT’S FIRST GRADUATES

Noon – 3pm

The very first graduating classes from Tolland High School return to Tolland Green to meet and greet each other, walk our old stone sidewalks, and tour Historical Society Museums, Arts Center, and hopefully meet local officials in the “Hicks” that we all remember attending 50 odd years ago.

If you’d like, bring a beverage, folding chair, or blanket to sit and catch up on the green or…
A special exhibit of THS’s first years is being prepared by the Historical Society. Could there be Uniforms? Pom Poms? Memorabilia? We’ll find out…

Visit the JAIL and sit in the old jail cells (if you didn’t get the chance in High School),
Shop “Clough’s” old Red & White store where they have all your favorite penny candy
Hicks House museum (did George Washington sleep there?). The first Courthouse (we called it the Library back then). And our old town Hall is now the Arts Center. Many of us were in the Congregational Church basement for kindergarten and on the Green for the 250th celebration of Tolland’s Charter (1965).

Light your memory up.

VISIT THE PLACE WHERE IT ALL HAPPENED

The Former High School is OPEN For Our Group

WALK DOWN THE HALLS OF MEMORY LANE
1-3pm

Visit our old “high School” now Tolland Middle School.
Walk the halls, climb the stairs, find your old locker/classroom, take a selfie. Visit the café, gym, the athletic field, the old parking lot. Who knows what memories it will stir in you?
Just remember no smoking in the boy’s room….

AND all day 10am – 5pm
Visit the Tolland Library ( in the lower Hicks Memorial we had classes in). Park on our old recess blacktop playground lot.

Crandell’s Park, where Mrs. Crandell used to make sure we used the correct gender “changing rooms” will let in our graduates. It’s much bigger now with multiple sports fields, tennis courts, a LODGE and Pavilion. How many of us learned to jump into water off the stone wall by the dam?
